Luke 8:22-25 | Sleeping in the Storm

What’s the worst storm you’ve ever been caught in?

Do you think Jesus knew what was going to happen before He suggested to His disciples that they “go over to the other side of the lake?” Was this a set up? Why? Why not?

What do theses verse suggest about Jesus? (Luke 5:22; Luke 6:8; Mark 2:8; and John 2:23-25)

What’s most telling in this account about how severe the storm really was? (verse 24)

What do you think Jesus was trying to teach His disciples by falling asleep and staying asleep in the midst of the windstorm threatening to swamp the boat?

Have you ever had so much work to do that you found it more convenient to just sleep?

Compare and contrast this account with the words of the Psalmist in Psalm 107:23-32 (someone read it). What does this tell you about Jesus Christ?

What tone do you think verse 25 was asked in? Was Jesus’ question, “Where is your faith?” a reasonable question considering the circumstances?

Was there ever a time in your life when God calmed a raging storm in your life? Anyone care to share?

Do you think the relationship dynamic between Jesus and His disciples changed after this experience? Why? Why not?

What about Jesus Christ are you most in awe of?

What about Jesus Christ are you most grateful for? (Write it down and share. Then prayerfully end by thanking Him for it).
