Luke 9:57-62 | "Following" Ain't Easy

What are some reasons your unchurched friends, family, or coworkers won’t visit a church or trust in Jesus Christ?

Prior to becoming a Christian, what were some obstacle that kept you from choosing to trust in Jesus Christ?

Instead of responding to the would-be-follower by saying, “sure, you can follow me” Jesus says, “Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head.”? What did Jesus mean by those words?

For you personally, what would you say is the toughest part about being a follower of Jesus Christ today?

What convinced you the gospel was true and Christ was/is your Lord and savior?

What did the man in verse 59 want to do before fully committing to follow Jesus?

Do you think Jesus’ response in verse 60 is a little cold? What do you think Jesus meant when He said, “Let the spiritually dead bury their own dead! Your duty is to go and preach about the Kingdom of God.”

What social or cultural factors make it hard for you to be more bold about your faith in Jesus Christ? How have you worked through it?

What did Jesus mean in verse 62 when He said, “Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God.”

Have you ever had a disagreement with your parents about the implications of your faith in Christ?

Today, are you where you want to be spiritually?

If “no”, what does your end goal look like? In other words, what do you want to be more of, or less of, as a Christian?

What has kept you from becoming the person you long to be spiritually?

What would it take to get from where you are today to where you long to be spiritually?
